Welcome to the New York State Trial Lawyers Association website. The New York State Trial Lawyers Association. founded in 1953, our mission is to protect consumers, assure that the wrongly injured have access to justice, and provide the public with ethical and well-trained lawyers. We are active in the courthouse and the state legislative houses.
Biography
 

Michele S. Mirman, Esq., a trial attorney and active member of the New York State Bar for over 42 years, is the founder and senior partner at Mirman, Markovits & Landau, P.C. Ms. Mirman was previously a Director, Vice President, and a Chair of the Women's Caucus of NYSTLA. She is a past President of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association, as well as being a Delegate to the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (“WBASNY”). As a member of WBASNY, Ms. Mirman served on the judiciary committee, which rated New York State Judicial candidates. She is also a member of American Association of Justice, the Brooklyn Bar Association, the Nathan Sobel Kings County Inns of Court, and the Brooklyn Brandeis Society, among other bar associations. 

 

Ms. Mirman had her first multi-million dollar verdict in 1985 on behalf of a woman assaulted and raped in her own house, as a result of the contractor’s failure to properly install the locks on her outside door. Ms. Mirman enjoys the highest ranking of 10 from Avvo, is a Super Lawyer, and a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.  She is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Florida and Washington, D.C., as well as in the Federal Courts of New Jersey and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

 

Ms. Mirman is committed to making a difference in her community. She is on the Board of Trustees of the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, whose mission is to celebrate the history and achievements of our immigrant past. She is also a Trustee of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, which provides innovative programming for this essential green space. Ms. Mirman is a member of Allinbklyn, a community of women who make grants to non-profit organizations that strengthen Brooklyn, and is a longtime supporter of the Brooklyn Kindergarten Society, which established and runs preschools in underprivileged areas of Brooklyn, and the Making Headway Foundation, which raises money for research into brain cancer in children. As President and Vice President of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association, Ms. Mirman spearheaded the drive to raise money for the Safe Homes Project of Brooklyn to provide shelter and services for abused women and children.
